New Water Tanker
Through various fund raising efforts and with a great deal of help and support from members of our provicial and local officials, the Norman's Cove-Long Cove Volunteer Fire Department is pleased to announce that on November 22nd, 2010, we officially put into service a new Water Tanker which will greatly assist us in our ongoing efforts to protect the communities in our region.
The Tanker is based on a heavy tandem axle Vac Truck that was used at the Bull Arm fabrication facility. The process of converting the Vac Truck into our Water Tanker involved removing the Vac unit and supporting components and replacing it with our 3,000 gallon stainless steel water tank that was previously on our old, decommision Water Tanker. This task was undertaken and completed by Parson's Garage in Southern Harbour, to whom we would like to offer our thanks and congratulations for a job well done.
We would also like to specifically thank MHA Calvin Peach as well as Newfoundland & Labrador Fire Commissioner Fred Hollett for their invaluable help throughout the process.
Fund Raiser
The Norman's Cove-Long Cove Volunteer Fire Department is pleased to announce that our recent fund raising efforts were successful and that on Monday, October 11th, we were happy to call Tim Peddle of Long Cove to tell him that he was the proud owner of a new 400 Yamaha Big Bear ATV and utility trailer.
The members of the Norman's Cove-Long Cove Volunteer Fire Department would like to thank everyone for their support and enthusiasim for this round of fund raising. In particular would we like to thank Atlantic Trailer and Equipment for supplying the bike and trailer, and all the retailers and individuals in the region that helped us sell the tickets.
Donation by Nalcor Energy
On July 15th, 2010, the Norman's Cove-Long Cove Volunteer Fire Department was pleased to accept a donation of four bunker suits from Nalcor Energy that were previously used at the Bull Arm fabrication site in Trinity Bay. These suits will be immediately put into service so that the members of the NC-LC Fire Department can continue to protect the communities of Norman's Cove-Long Cove and Chapel Arm as well as the surrounding areas.
The entire NC-LC Fire Department would like to thank Nalcor Energy for their gracious donation and for supporting the Department and the communities we strive to protect.
